Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke
Seth Godin wrote about the difficulty of people changing coming down to wanting it. Yes, and no.
At times I’ve gone through changes because I wanted to stop being a certain way, too perfectionist, too controlling, too reactive.
But some of that was born of the Universe wanting me to change. This was shown in my relationships. People didn’t want to be around that person. I don’t blame them. I’m grateful. I would not have become aware of my foibles, were it not for these exits.
You can’t change unless you want it. But you won’t want it if you’re not aware of the effect of who you currently are.
Even when Life imposes the change, through a loss of a loved one, a job, a home, we won’t get the lesson — the gift — unless we become more aware of who we were before the shift. Otherwise, it’s not a shift.
When we make the awareness it can become the devotion to wanting to change. We come to desire and want the shift enough that it becomes a daily practice. That practice is my sadhana, my devotion. 4am Meditation.
How to develop awareness? As Jamie Wheal reminded us quoting Rilke in his recent post, “Live the questions.” Then some years may be answers.
Are you a leader who wants to embody a more transformative vibration in your changemaking? My method, Five Dimensions to Rhythm and Flow, helps women leaders tune in to their empathic nature and amplify their radiant leadership through unique daily rituals.
