We have a near-infinite selection of new and interesting things to drink. But most of them are not very good for you—in fact, many of them are fueling the diabetes and chronic disease epidemic that’s spreading across the planet. I’m talking about drinks containing sugar, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, chemical additives, and other things you should never be chugging. There are good non-water drinks on the market, but you have to be a smart shopper and read the labels carefully. And then there’s orange juice, which many people seem to think is a healthy beverage. Well, actually orange juice is just a big, tall glass of sugar. And this goes for any fruit juice that you buy. Green juices are fine, but they should be just greens with lemon or ginger. And when you’re buying so-called healthy beverages like pre-packaged smoothies and juices, look out for the sugar content. In reality, there is only one beverage that you need in order to live and thrive, and that’s water. But we all, myself included, enjoy other beverages daily, so it’s important to know which ones are ok and which ones are harmful. In my new book, “Food: What the Heck Should I Eat?” I have a whole section on beverages to provide you with all the information you need to feel empowered and make informed choices about what you eat (and drink!). Learn more and pre-order your copy of, “Food: What the Heck Should I Eat?” today via the link in my profile. #foodthebook
